Five Months Old!

I'm a day late...Finley turned five months old yesterday! Just unbelievable.   She is such a fun girl.  She is always smiling and (almost) always happy.

Here is what Miss Finley is up to this month:
  • Finley was 14 pounds, 6 ounces at her 4 month check up.  Craziness!  She hasn't had any solid foods yet.  We've waited until 6 months for solids with all of them, so even though I am somewhat (read: totally) desperate for her to sleep for longer stretches at night, we're going to wait one more month.  I will say that besides the whole growing them inside me thing, one of the things I've found to be the most rewarding as a mommy is that I've breastfed them all exclusively for the first 6 months.   And they've all been chunky!  My house may be a mess, I'm never caught up on laundry, and I only sweep every other day, but I'm pretty good at making milk!
  • Speaking of which, she's eating anywhere from 8 to 10 times a day.  Especially with her current love of night feedings.
  • Her clothes are sized anywhere from 3 months to 9 months depending on what kind of "outfit" it is. Some of her little 6 month clothes don't fit her bottom well when I try to put them over a cloth diaper!  I may hum a few bars of "Baby Got Back" when I put her in leggings.
  • She hasn't fallen asleep in her swing in almost 2 months!  She seems to really love her rock'n play!  Which, you know, bodes well for the transition to her crib I'm sure.
  • She is still having issues with gas.  Drops help some, and I've also found that gripe water seems to be beneficial, too.  She's only pooping about twice a week.  I'm hoping that changes soon.  I'm hesitant to start her on solids next month if she's still having issues with, you know, that.
  • She is a bit more "scheduled" now.  She usually takes a nap when we get home from dropping the kids off at school and wakes up before we leave.  After we pick them up, she eats, plays for a bit, and then takes a longer afternoon nap.  She stays awake for about 3 or 4 hours before she finally goes to bed at night.  And then she's up every 3 hours or so.
  • She likes playtime in her Bumbo and exersaucer, and she'll tolerate her playmat for a few minutes.
  • Her favorite toys are her baby doll, her Sophie, a butterfly rattle, and a shaky sun toy that she got from Mimi and Baba for Christmas.
  • She still likes to be worn.  She's teething now, so I spent a long time this weekend doing chores with her in her Moby.  It's nice to be able to try different "carries" with her now.  We're definitely big fans of the Ergo, too.
  • She is a talker.  Non stop.  Fortunately for us, that's how she wakes up in the morning.  She loves to look us in the eye and "talk."
  • She's also a big fan of her feet.  She loves to grab them, and saying the word "toes" makes her smile!
  • No teeth yet - I thought I felt one last month, but it was apparently a gum ridge.  I think we're getting close though.
  • She is wriggly in her Bumbo, and she will sit up "by herself" if I put the Boppy around her.
  • She "said" her "first word."  She said "Dada" about 4 times over the weekend.  Yup.  A little crazy.  I was pulling for "Mama." And not just because I'm you know, the primary caregiver and food supply.
Few more of Ms. Finley this month:
