A Quick, Funny Wyatt Story

The past week and a half have been very difficult, to say the least. But in the midst of our emotional roller coaster, Wyatt did what he does best...providing much needed comic relief:

The other night Wyatt and I were playing on the floor, when Brittney walked by and bent over to pick something up...right in front of Wyatt. He immediately got this shocked look on his face and let out the longest "Whoaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa" I have ever heard. Brittney turned around and said "I know its big right now but you don't have to draw attention to it Wyatt!" It was absolutely hilarious.

*For the record I have Brittney's permission to tell this story so I will NOT be getting in trouble.

First Bike Ride

Wyatt's new bike seat was finally delivered about a week and a half ago, and Brian got it hooked up to his mountain bike pretty quickly. It took us a night and three stores to find the bike helmet for Wyatt, and then it took some time for Brian to get home before it was dark and have enough time to get the seat installed, but we finally got Wyatt out for his first bike ride on Sunday night. He had a blast! He has such a huge smile on his face while he's riding on the bike and he loves that he gets to spend time with Daddy while he does it!

The boys went off and road around the neighborhood for awhile, and Brian said Wyatt was talking to him about stuff the whole time. They've gone on another ride since these were taken, and apparently on the second ride Wyatt made Brian join him in one of his new hobbies.... beat boxing. Wyatt can't get enough of it. It's pretty funny, I'll have to get some clips of him beat boxing soon.

Brian said he and Wyatt got a lot of weird looks because of the way the bike is positioned, but that he really enjoys being able to communicate with Wyatt while they ride. Either way, they both had a great time

My Sweet Husband

There haven't been a ton of pictures taken of me lately around here. This picture was taken about two weeks ago. I've gotten bigger and the baby's "dropped" since then, so my stomach is looking even bigger. Actually, it's just bigger. I can't even bathe Wyatt anymore because I can't reach him and it's just not safe. So, that falls on Brian :).

Anyway, the reason that my size comes up is because of something my darling husband did the other night. We were on the couch watching TV and I was laying down. I rolled over to get up off the couch and I rolled over his phone. The way my husband reacted you would have thought that Shamu just rolled over the phone though. He actually tried to revive his phone with some CPR.  Don't be jealous ladies. Seriously, don't be jealous :).

My Dorks. Yeah, Seriously.

The other night we went out and about looking for a bike helmet for Wyatt. We tried Toys R Us first, but they only had one dorky, girly helmet. We went to Sports Authority and they had nothing. We finally found the perfect bike helmet for the little guy at Target. Where else?

Anyway, while we were at Toys R Us the boys stopped to look at the new Star Wars toys that came out about a week ago. Brian had looked over them briefly last week, but walked Wyatt over to have a look. And Wyatt LOVED the toys. He loved looking at them, pressing the buttons, everything. I was seriously hoping that this wasn't a genetic trait :(. At least we've finally moved past buying all of them! Anyway, I happened to have a camera with me so I took a few pictures of them playing!

By the way, I've watched the movies. But I just don't get what the bid deal is. Just. Don't. Get. It.

Visiting "Daddy Work"

Yesterday Wyatt and I went to visit Brian at the waterpark. The cool thing about this visit was that Brian had a super special manager shirt made for Wyatt that looks just like his. So when we set off on our trip Wyatt was wearing his khaki shorts, sneakers, blue sunglasses and his blue collared shirt that's just like Daddy's. The only thing Brian has that Wyatt doesn't have (yet) is one of the waterpark baseball caps.

Wyatt had a lot of fun sitting at Daddy's desk and "doing paperwork" as well as "crunching numbers" on the calculator. He also took part in a "meeting" with Dave and then made the rounds out in the park (after he tucked his shirt tails in), where he checked to make sure the balloons were blown up at the birthday party tent. He also got to hang out with one of his favorite people Anna, who let him use her walkie talkie until he got his own kiddie one.

Our Funny Duck (and Reason 876346274632 Why I Love My Husband).

Tonight Brian came home just in time for dinner and a walk. He came in the door with Noelle and then said he had to go back out to the car because he forgot something. He was gone for a few minutes and then he came inside with daisies and a card for me. I was very excited that he bought them for me, because I knew he was trying to cheer me up. I've been having a lot of back pain and a strain that I developed in the last few weeks with Wyatt has decided to make an early appearance with Baby Girl, so I was a little uncomfortable and sad last night. Well, the card and the flowers made my night (and made me cry, but what's new?), but on top of that he went back outside and brought in a gift bag from Spa Phoenix. He got me 2 gift certificates for half hour pregnancy massages! I'm stoked! I went for one massage when I was pregnant with Wyatt and it was awesome, so I can't wait to go for my first one...and then follow it up with another! Anyway, that's just another reason that I love him so much...he thinks of little things and big things to make me happy for no reason at all (except that I've been pregnant for 16 of the last 24 months):).

Anyway, we went on a walk around the neighborhood and came home and got Wyatt ready for bed. After his shower tonight we had a special surprise for him...his very own duck towel. When I took him out of the shower, I wrapped him in his towel and stood him on the counter in front of the mirror. And he pointed at himself and said "Hi, Duck!" He was so happy, and he wanted to just keep looking at himself...he is a bit vain. After I got him in his jammies I laid him down to his Smashing Pumpkins lullaby CD (Brian's decision, not mine) and for the first time since his nightmare, he didn't cry! He laid down like a good little boy and went to sleep.

"Hi Duck!"
I'm off to bed now too....Wyatt and I have a lot to do this weekend while Daddy works. We're going to the Waterpark with Grammy, Grandpa, Aunt Allison, Uncle T, Colin and Piper on Friday, then we're going to my Big Fat Italian Family Reunion on Saturday in NC and we have even more socializing to do on Sunday because Uncle Marc and April are going to be home. It's going to be a fun, long weekend (but even longer for Brian who has to work through the whole thing:()!

"I'm Superstitious Mom, Not OCD..."

Brian has a few "quirks." We don't call them OCD, they're more superstitions...I guess. The number of times my husband knocks on wood a day is ridiculous. Noelle's collar needs to be put on a very specific way (from the way you stand behind her and hold it to put it on). It all goes back to when he was a kid (seriously, he was just talking about it with his sister a few weeks ago), and he chalks it up to being a baseball player and how superstitious the sport is.

Well, he comes from a family of baseball players, so I'm assuming that Wyatt must have the "superstitious" gene too. The last two times I've given him a bowl of goldfish he has taken 5 out of the bowl (he doesn't know how to count, so I don't know why it's 5), and lined them up all facing the same direction on Noelle's dog bed. He then eats one of them by sticking his mouth directly on the bed and slurping it up (fortunately, our dog never actually lays on her dog bed...so it's the only lab hair free surface in the house), and then picks the next four up. Brian says it's a good way to live, but I'm hoping that this isn't a sign of things to come...I'm afraid it is....

Finished the first one, now on to the rest

And this is the face I've seen a lot recently from my little whiny grumpy pants.

You Think You Know Somebody!

I think the heat is getting to Brian because he shocked me the other day. After almost eight years together (almost two of them married), I didn't think he could really surprise me. Well...he did.

On Monday he had a meeting at work. He left the house in dress pants and a shirt and tie. When he came home, he had on a sport coat too. Like, a real, new navy blue sport coat. I was astonished. My husband doesn't wear sport coats (and honestly, I prefer it that way). In the summer time he leaves the house in khaki shorts, a white tshirt, a Yankees hat and flip flops or sneakers...with a dog in tow. Needless to say, I thought a stranger had walked into my house.

Later that night, we were watching the Red Sox game on TV. The following phrase came out of my husband's mouth "Come on Jacoby, I need some hits, some runs, some stolen bases." Jacoby Ellsbury is a player for the Red Sox and he's on Brian's fantasy baseball team. I was a little surprised to hear him rooting for one of the Red Sox players though, so I jokingly asked him if he was a Red Sox fan now...and I think he took it too far. The following phrases came out of my husband's mouth (my husband who I always thought was a Yankees fan - you may have to know a little about baseball to get these)....

1."My favorite Dimaggio was Dom!"
2. "The only Red Sox player I hate is JD Drew."
3. "Curt Schilling was bleeding from the ankle. It wasn't a ketchup packet."
4. "And the Sox would have gone to the World Series in '03 if it hadn't been for Aaron F'n Boone!"
5. "Honey, have you seen my Ted Williams McFarland figure?"
6. "I think we should name the baby Varitek. And call her 'C.C' short. You know, 'cause he's the catcher and the captain."
7. "There's nothing wrong with Manny Ramirez, he has cool dreadlocks."
8. "Honey, when I call you could you please be more like Papelbon and answer the call?"

He also made some favorable comments regarding Terry Francona and Mike Lowell as well, but it's hurting my heart a little to keep typing them. Brian says he was just kidding, but he's been banned from the Yankee Room until further notice...and I think he might be disowned of he doesn't stop.

My Fabulous Husband!

I just want to take a moment to say how truly fabulous my husband is! I am thankful for him everyday although I don't feel like I've seen him much since Mother's Day....

Three things today that have reminded me just how fabulous he is:
1. Our fantastic son who keeps pointing to my nose and saying "nose." And then following it up with a High 5 because he knows how good he is. How smart is he getting?

2. Our wonderful pool that baby girl and I floated in while said fantastic son napped. Brian's worked really hard the last few weeks (on top of the 10 - 12 hour work days) to get our pool ready for summer. And with me being pregnant, on a day like today there is nothing better than floating in the pool reading a book!

3. My glorious remote start in the Rav4. I never really dropped any hints that I it was something I needed in a car, but I did say how handy it was for some people at work who have it. But when he surprised me with the Toyota at Christmas, he surprised me even more by having the remote start installed! On winter mornings it was fantastic, but it's even better now when Wyatt and I are out running errands and the car gets hot. Last summer it was stifling when we first got in the Sentra and I felt so bad for Wyatt who hates being hot, but now the Rav4 is nice and cool.

And those are only 3 reasons of millions that I love my husband!

Sleepy Boys

This weekend Wyatt and Mommy hung out a lot. Daddy is officially working at least six days a week which is depressing....

On Friday we went with my Mom to see my Grandmother at the "home." Wyatt's Aunt Allison pointed out last week that when he says "Bye" it comes out as "Die." I'd never noticed it before, but it was a little awkward when my kid was waving at all the old folks as we were leaving the home waving and saying "Die. Die." Later on that day I took Wyatt to get his pictures taken and was pleasantly surprised when Daddy showed up for the pictures. I was so excited he came because Wyatt loves his Daddy so much and I knew he'd smile more. Plus, I would never have been able to keep up with him throughout the session so it's a good thing that Brian came. His pictures turned out really well!

On Sunday Wyatt and I did some shopping at Babies R Us because we had a 10% of coupon for the baby monitor for Baby Girl and a $10 gift card. Then we went to Pier 1 and Bed Bath & Beyond (the number of gift cards that I had left from our wedding was getting to me) and stopped at Petsmart so Wyatt could see the doggies and fish. I then felt guilty for having him in his stroller for two hours, so we went to my Mom and Dad's house so that he could run around outside. Wyatt fell asleep in the car on the 7 minute ride home, and we were surprised to find Brian home when we got here. I put Wyatt down to say hi to Daddy and this is what happened....

Wyatt at the Zoo!

Our little fella LOVES to be outside, and he LOVES animals so we took him to the zoo this past weekend. Here are some pictures from our trip.....

Looking at the elephants....this is very serious business.

So unlike the parent next to us, we didn't actually allow Wyatt to stick his finger through the gate and get snapped at by the goose.

This giraffe was seriously looking right at Wyatt. And Wyatt found him to be mesmerizing.
Walking down the ramp to see the baboons with Daddy.
Wyatt stops to take a picture.
As you can see by the huge smile on his face, Wyatt loves walking!
Okay, so this was at Target, but we found out Wyatt really likes Boba Fett. Brian was rather excited about this, and though it's not age appropriate, it will probably end up in his Easter Basket....

Our Family

It all started with Brian and his black lab puppy Noelle. The two soulmates met in December of 1993 when Brian was given Noelle as a Christmas gift. You can learn more about them here. For many years, the two of them enjoyed driving around in the Jeep, weekend trips to the Outer Banks, long walks on the beach and sharing the occasional graham cracker.

Brian and I met in 1998 when I interviewed for a job and he was the boss! We didn't really talk or even become friends until 2000, but at that point we definitely made each other laugh. So we liked each other as friends and it really just kind of became more. One day when my foot was broken, and I didn't really get to eat during my break, Brian brought me my lunch at my spot and ate with me. From that point on I was in LOVE, it just took my buddy a little bit longer to come around to it.

Fast forward 5 years to Christmas Eve 2005. Brian really surprised me with a wonderful and thoughtful and romantic proposal and of course I said yes! So we set about planning our perfect wedding day, of course including our perfect puppy dog Noelle! From that point on, it's all kind of been a whirlwind! We got married, had our precious baby boy Wyatt and we have another on the way!

Our son has brought more joy to us in the last year than I think either of us could have imagined. He is all boy for sure, but I think he's nice and cuddly when he wants to be too. I always knew from the way Brian has taken care of our girl Noelle that he would be a GREAT father, but he is a Super Fantastic Wonderful father. Wyatt LOVES to play with his Daddy, and it's awesome to see how happy Wyatt makes Brian. So this blog will mainly give updates into the four (soon to be five!) of us!
