Backyard Baseball Take 2

Last summer we played some baseball in the backyard, and we did it again last night.  But this time it was with a purpose. Our little Finley Quinn is playing baseball for the first time!  I can't believe that this little girl who has been going to games since she was a teeny tiny baby.  She's probably been to well over 100 games since she was born!

Her excitement level about her first official hitting session with Daddy was high!
"Daddy, I actually know what I'm doing here," (Warning, picture overload ahead).

And with that, let t-ball season begin!

May Little Things

We spent A LOT of our May at the Ball Field.  Hudson's  team had several make up games, and Reese and Wyatt's team both made big play off runs.  But this is mostly about the parts of our May that we didn't spend at the ball field!

Every one wore their Star Wars clothes for May the fourth (be with you).  I only got a picture of these two before we left for school that morning.

Pony pictures are always fun at school, and this girl had her first set taken.  She ended up with a chilly, rainy day for her pictures, but she still had fun on the pony!

We were able to make the drive to a mall about 30 minutes away to see Reese's art in the Spring Art Show!  She was very proud of her snowman, and she definitely should be!  I am always impressed by her artwork.

When I walked out of the room one morning, I found Wyatt reading "The Day the Crayons Came Home," to his brother and sister.  Reese looks like she's still asleep! Ha!
Fresh from the bath, and ready to put on her fake glasses from her Wendy's meal.
So Wyatt always has travel ball practice on Friday nights, but he also ended up having soccer tryouts at the same time one Friday.  We didn't think he would make it to baseball on time, so we didn't bring a change of clothes. But tryouts didn't last long, and he ended up hitting in his soccer uniform.
He was in the middle of driving Reese batty when Finley told him she loved him and offered him a kiss.
Reese's class performed in the Spring PTA Meeting musical.  She is on the left, top row in red!
This boy.  He is salty and sweet.  His latest saying has been "Oh, burn."  But his smile lights up a room and he has the sweetest, zaniest, funniest personality.  And he definitely doesn't like plain vanilla as much as he likes the hard chocolate shell.
Ready for practice, 5 nights a week.  I, on the other hand, always welcome a night off!
I took on a new, fun adventure when I became an aide at Hudson and Finley's preschool.  It takes up a big chunk of my time that I usually spend doing laundry or shopping or cleaning, but I also got some pretty neat benefits.  Like money, ha! And seeing this guy at his cowboy party!  Next school year we're excited for a new adventure when I work at school 5 days a week.  Wyatt and Reese are all day students, so this won't be huge for them.  Hudson will do half day Kindergarten just like Reese, but he will take the van to the preschool (and me!) for Extended day K.
Little brothers at a baseball game!
An we finished May with a really fun birthday party!  Nothing like water balloon baseball.  Reesie crushed it!

A Little More Baseball

Wyatt's new travel baseball team had their first game at the beginning of May.

He and his buddy Aden have been playing baseball together since they were itty bitty.  Last August we experienced a bit of "serendipitous" timing when the coaches of both of their travel teams decided to move on.  Their dads have talked for a long time about starting their own team, and it worked out really well that they both ended up with good reasons to leave their teams at the same time.
And the adventure began. Along with some of their friends from the baseball league, they began having practices in late fall, and practiced together at a gym all winter.  Finally in May, they were ready for their first game.
They scheduled the game for 7PM on a Saturday night, and all but one of the boys also had a 5PM game with their rec teams.  They were a little tired!  Wyatt didn't start the game, but he did come in and strike out three in the final inning.
These boys were over the moon excited that they won their first game!
Their coaches also had them shout "Happy Mother's Day!"  Smart dads!

April Little Things

April was a fun and busy month!  We had baseball and softball (sometimes nightly), soccer, and all of our school happenings!  On Opening Day we wore our Yankees shirts!

We also bought The Force Awakens at the beginning of the month.  I loved the picture of FQB kissing the DVD case, but I love the expression on Hudson's face more.

Hudson moved on to Reader 5 at school!  It's a doozy!  He started sounding out words on his own.

Jeter enjoyed some sunshine on the deck.  Always with a tee back there!
Because there is always some kind of batting practice going on!  Reese needed to get in her tee work before a game one day!
This picture makes me so happy and so sad!  Hudson and his buddy Mason have been in the same class since they were 3, and they've also been playing t-ball together. Next year they're going to two different primary schools, and it makes me so sad. They are such good buddies!

This guy wasn't feeling well, but he sure knows how to make himself comfy on the couch.

Jackie Robinson day!  Since Wyatt plays for the Dodgers we got him a "real" Robinson shirt this year.

This is my life on a Friday night. 4 children, 6 sports activities a week, 2 jobs (3 counting the mothering), 38ish hours worked. A messy house that I'm pretty sure it will never be clean again. And my Friday night? Laundry, wine, and waiting for my husband to get home from baseball practice with my dinner before I crash.

Hudson is always eager to help Daddy leave the ballfield.  Ha!

Not to be left out, she also got a compression sleeve and a necklace, just like the big kids.

The streets of our neighborhood were safe with the Captain America/Wolverine combo on the streets.

Older brothers are most excellent at helping little brothers with their reading.

Love being able to walk into school with this cutie and her big brother every day.  And I get to see them both throughout the day.  It's the best!
Finley modeled her dance costume for us.  Precious!  I can't wait to see her dance in her recital this weekend!

Meanwhile, Hudson passed out on the floor as soon as he got home from t-ball.

Wyatt earned the game ball!  He pitched two really great innings with 6 strike outs, he hit well, and his attitude was fantastic.  #thatswhatmakesmamaproud

Reese's softball team took a pretty epic picture (I'll post soon), and this was how she got ready.  "Dirt in the skirt!"
Hudson is all registered for Kindergarten in the fall.  Unbelievable!!!! I am going to be working at the preschool 5 days a week next year (I know!  WHAT?!), so he will be doing a hybrid of Wyatt and Reese's Kindergarten years.  He will go to Kindergarten at the Primary school with Reese (where we are crossing all of our fingers that he will have the same great teacher she did), and then he will take the van back to the preschool where Wyatt went for Kindergarten.  Best of both worlds!
Oh look!  I remember a month ago when she actually took naps!  Sadly, naps are not happening much these days.  And on the days that she does nap, she says, "Guess what Mommy?  I put my body to sleep!"
Hudson got Reader 6 at the end of the month!
This is a sign that you've been at the fields for too long.  It's called Saturday Baseball Exhaustion. I'm also a sufferer.

And that's our April in a little blog post!  Hopefully I can get to May and a few other fun things soon!
