Seven Months Old!

I can't believe this little girl is seven months old (and has been for two weeks - oops)!

Here is Finley Quinn's rundown for this month:

• I think she's still around 17 pounds.  She doesn't seem a lot heavier, anyway.
• She has tried squash, carrots, sweet potatoes, corn, peas, pear, prunes (needed in the worst possible way), pineapple, apples, and blueberries.  She genuinely seems to love everything!
• She breastfeeds about 7 times a day.  A few more lately because there have been a lot of night wakings.  I try to use it to lull her back to sleep, but some nights she is just not having it!
• She's wearing 9-12 month clothes.  She's fitting in most of Reese's hand me downs from her first year, and honestly, it's making me so happy!  I loved some of Reese's rompers and dresses, and I'm excited to see Finley in them!
• She falls asleep without my help, and we moved from the swaddle me to a sleep sack this month.  So far, so good!
• She's waking up around 7, eating and playing while the kids get ready for school, napping when we get home, waking up before we leave, eating, napping again around 1-4, and then she plays happily until bedtime, which is usually around 7.  It's the nights that are getting tough!
• She is champion at sitting.  She will sit and play and reach for everything around her.
• No new words!  Still just a lot of "da-da-da-da-da!"
• She has been enjoying hanging out in her car seat at games and practices lately. It's nice to not have to wear her all the time!
• She is definitely a Mommy's girl!  She likes to have me within her sights at all times.  I've started going to the YMCA while the big kids are at school, and they have had to come find me a few times because Finley has been inconsolable.  It's sweet, but I'd really love to work out!  Ha!
• She has no teeth (although there has been lots of pain!)
• She likes to stand if she holds my hands!  She gets the biggest smile on her face.

Tuesday, April 2

I finally figured out a way to get Finley to interact more with this toy!  It can stand, or it can sit flat on the floor.  I took two legs off and propped it up so she can sit and look - she LOVES it!

Wednesday, April 3

Reese is in a reader that is teaching her to sound out words.  It was Spring Break, but she really wanted to read and my hands were full...so Wyatt helped her.  It's times like these where I really appreciate how close they are in age!

Finley busted out of her swaddle...and she seemed happy about it, so I decided to start her in sleep sacks.  So far, so good!  And she looks adorable not sleeping, doesn't she?!

My poor boys. Brian was a Dolphins fan growing up, but he had the advantage of having Dan Marino as a quarterback.  These kids are still being raised Dolphins fans, with no signs of a winning season in sight!

Saturday, April 6

Like I said, the best word to describe Reese's fascination with Doc McStuffins is obsession.  She got the dress up set in her Easter basket (the jacket and the purple striped shirt), but she was begging me for a pink tutu (that's what she calls skirts) and purple polka dot leggings.  Target, as usual, never fails me.  The pink tutu and purple polka dot leggings were purchased on Saturday and she wasted no time setting up her "clinic."  Now she's waiting on me to paint her backyard playhouse (a plastic hand me down I'll be making over a la Pinterest) to match Doc's clinic.  She wants it to match exactly!

Back to school - and pony pictures!  It was a beautiful day, so I let her wear her jean dress and cowgirl boots!  I bet she looked adorable on her pony.  No worries about modesty with this one.  If she wears a dress, she put shorts on underneath without being reminded!  Ha!

It was opening day, baseball fans!  Of course we were all sporting our Yankees gear (to watch them lose - boo!).  We're waiting on Jeter, Granderson, and Texeira to come back!

Easter Part 3: Egg Hunt!

Sunday afternoon it finally cleared up enough for us to go to Brian's parents' house for an egg hunt there.  We spent the early afternoon taking the front of the dryer off and vacuuming it out because I had discovered on Saturday that it wasn't heating up. Fortunately it's all fixed now, but I don't recommend having 4 kids and cloth diapering, and having a broken dryer!

We stopped and picked up pizzas and then went to Mimi and Baba's.

We gave Hudson and Reese a head start, but this guy still collected a ton of eggs!

And that is our Easter recap!  I think all the kids had a fun day, and Finley had a great first Easter!

Easter Part 2: Easter Morning

When you look at these photos, you will notice that there aren't any of the big kids going through their baskets.  That's because they woke up at 5:18 in the morning screaming about the Easter Bunny.  Needless to say, Brian and I had to drag ourselves out of bed and we didn't take any pictures!

While Brian was at the hockey game on Saturday night, I realized that we didn't have enough eggs for the kids to hunt, so the poor guy had to make a Wal-Mart run at 11:30!  Fortunately everything else was pretty much done.

 FQB with her basket.  I ordered her basket without checking the other kids' baskets first.  Oops.  Finley has a HUGE basket.

 Hudson loved his goodies, especially his Thomas socks?  He also got two new Chuggington trains, but he was all about his socks!

 We ended the morning with Finley sitting in her basket!  Told you it was big!

It started pouring that morning, so our egg hunt got rained out (yes, after Brian ran out to get more the night before!).  Everyone went down for naps and then we went to Mimi and Baba's for an egg hunt at their house!

Easter Part 1: Coloring Eggs

On Friday when Brian was sick I had the genius idea to let the kids dye eggs.  All 4 of them were awake, so it was definitely a little nerve racking, but still fun!  We didn't dye eggs last year, so the last time we did it was two years ago!

Reesie was very excited to make a purple egg and a pink egg.  Do you like all of her artwork in the background?  Always coloring, this one :)

 The boys were ready to get messy. 

No, I'm not kidding.  They actually wanted to get messy.  Fortunately that didn't happen!

These three keep me on my toes.  They have moments where they get along perfectly, but they also pair up against each other sometimes.  Yes, even that adorable one in the middle!

He just woke up from his nap.  I love his cute little smile.  He is the sweetest.

They each dyed 4 eggs.  Hudson was obsessed with green, while Wyatt took over every other color.  Except pink and purple of course.

Wyatt is 6!

Wyatt turned 6 on Saturday.  I wasn't sure how he was going to feel about "sharing" his birthday with Easter weekend, but he was excited.  He kept telling anyone who asked that he was going to be celebrating his birthday on Saturday and Easter on Sunday!

How is this guy six years old?  

 He had a few requests for his birthday, which cracked me up.  He wanted to have a "pajama morning," (basically, he wanted to stay in his PJ's for as long as he possibly could), he wanted Red Robin for dinner, and he wanted to go to the Admirals game on Saturday night.  

Brian was sick on Friday, so he hadn't finished Wyatt's birthday shopping.  He took Reese and Hudson shopping on Saturday while I stayed home with Finley and Wyatt.  He really enjoyed having time to play on his own!

 He opened his presents that afternoon, and then we went to Red Robin for an early dinner.  We came home to have cake - he requested a cake with an "NY" on it.  I tried to make it a five layer cake with blue and white layers to look like "pinstripes." It was a little wobbly, but it was still tasty!

After cake he went to the game with Brian - where he enjoyed popcorn, Sprite (he almost never gets soda), and a snowcone!  He was wired when he got home - he was awake until 11:30!

 At six, this little boy is the most energetic person I know.  He jumps out of bed every morning and goes full force into the day. He is funny.  He is a typical first born.  He is all boy, and right now he loves sports (especially baseball and hockey), his family (especially his Daddy), animals, The Wild Kratts, Legos, talking (a lot), ninjas, peanut butter & jelly, wrestling with his friends, and just typical "boy stuff."

He loves to tease Reese, play with Hudson, and cuddle Finley.  He can be the most loving little boy in the world, and he can also be the most frustrating little guy on the planet! He has discovered talking back, and there are times when what he says sounds just like Brian or I talking, so I suppose we need to be more careful with our tones!

He has learned so much in the last year - to read, more math, and his units at school have taught him about the human body, children around the world, musical instruments, Dr. Seuss - he knows so much about all of it!  More than anything, this little boy is constantly teaching me - about everything. I can't believe that I've only known him for six years. There are for sure times where he frustrates me, when I feel like nothing I say is getting through, but I know it is.  Slowly! I love this little guy and his smiles and his stories so much!  Happy 6th birthday Wyatt Allan!
