Just Plain Irresponsible

Wyatt and I were watching The Wonder Pets tonight, and to be honest with you it really made me angry. In this episode two baby sea lions were fighting over a piece of salmon on some rocks in the middle of the ocean. On this particular day it was especially windy, and the brother and sister sea lion were on the rocks tugging the salmon back and forth.

My question is...where were the baby sea lions' parents? I mean, I'm as grateful as the next Mom that the Toddler Animal Superheroes are around to save other baby animals, but the parents have to take some responsibility here. After The Wonder Pets taught the kids that it's important to share by using their own beloved celery as an example and had to save one of the sea lions from falling off the rocks into the cold Alaskan waters, the parents showed up to thank Linny, Tuck and Ming Ming. But where could these parents possibly have been that they weren't able to get to their babies before 3, 4 and 5 year old animals were able to fly on a mysteriously built contraption from their home on the Continental United States to somewhere in Alaska?

The problem is that this is what happens in the majority of the episodes. Mommy and Daddy animal are nowhere to be found while their child is in mortal peril, but they show up as soon as Linny breaks out the celebratory celery. I suppose it's just a good thing that there's a guinea pig, turtle and duckling there to answer the call when the phone is ringing.

A Few Things from Tonight

*We took Wyatt on a walk and he was in a good mood when we got home. Brian was playing with him on the floor and Wyatt went over to the couch. Wyatt then hit Brian on the head with a pillow...you may have had to be there, but it was pretty funny.

*My husband actually just said to me "Babe, don't make me spill this, you'll have to clean it up," and then followed it up with "When I first heard Andrew Lloyd Webber was going to be on American Idol tonight, I was like, the architect? Why?"

*Seriously, who picked Andrew Lloyd Webber for American Idol tonight? BORING! I'm only interested in listening to Broadway if I'm in a Broadway theater. Or it's Les Mis. I can listen to Les Mis anywhere.

*And who likes David Archuleta? I am so over this kid and his "I just love blah, blah, blah, it so inspirational. It just inspires me." I'm also over the teenage girls who have crushes on him. Note to the ladies, he wants to be your best friend and he wants to take your brother to prom.

Not So Much to do with Wyatt...

NBC announced the other day that the network will partner with DirectTV and bring Friday Night Lights back for a third season. It's probably the best show on television that isn't being watched by a lot of people. The first season of the show was PHENOMENAL. Brian and I actually watched the very first episode of the show while we were on the "Second leg" of our honeymoon in Orlando. When the cruise finished up I had a little cold, and while we were at the hotel he forced me to watch it, and I really liked it. It honestly felt like I was watching a show that legitimately presented the issues that people dealt with in a small, football obsessed Texas town. We recorded the next few episodes on our DVR and finally watched like 6 at one time (the things you can do before you have kids) and we were hooked. Anyway, the second season this year was still really good (Brian liked it less because there wasn't as much focus on football), but there was a little less "realism" this season. They're promising that next season will be better, but unless you have DirectTV it will be next January before it comes on. Anyway, it's just something that I'm really excited about and thought I would share.
