First Day of School!

On Tuesday morning we got up bright and early to get this little guy off to his first day of First Grade!
And when I say bright and early, I mean bright and early.  Seriously.  We have to leave the house at 7:30 to get him to school on time!  It's not a problem for this guy who is up with the sun everyday, but it's not that easy for his mommy and daddy who were sleeping in a bit over the summer.  Fortunately for me, Brian's been dropping him off in the mornings while I get the other two ready for school.

He was very excited to start the new year, and I'm pretty sure that he ended up with the first grade teacher that was meant for him.  I think he is going to learn so much and have a blast in the first grade!!!  I asked him what he thought about his first week last night and he said that it was great!  I was worried about sending him off to a new school, but he already knows so many kids from his old school and our neighborhood and baseball and soccer, so he's actually listing off who he saw at school every day when he gets in the car.

This little miss was off to her year of Pre-Kindergarten!  She is going to school 5 days a week this year for half the day.  I know that she will learn so much, and she is already having the best time!
She kind of insisted on having a "hand on  the hip" pose after she put her chalkboard down.
So there's that.
And this little guy started school for the first time ever on Tuesday!  I can't believe that he's old enough for school!  He's in the same 2 day 3 year old program that Wyatt and Reese were in, but they actually let November babies in. He'll stay with the same group of kids until they separate for Pre-K and Kindergarten.  He won't meet the age cut off for Kindergarten, so he'll head off to Pre-K, just like Reese!
He was so, so excited to go to school.  He wanted to get his picture taken with everybody, he wanted to leave the house with Wyatt, and he wanted to make sure that under no circumstances was he left at home.

I was worried that there might be nerves of even some crying, but there was none.  He walked into his classroom, and only looked back once.  Then he moved on to washing his hands (yes, he likes to wash his hands!).
I think the fact that his amazing big sister was there helped him some.  He loves knowing that she's just down the hall if he needs her - and she definitely didn't stop reminding him that she was only a few steps away!
The first week of school was a little crazy for us all (one new school, 3 new schedules, 2 different drop offs and pick ups, soccer starting, baseball games, and on and on and on), but we had a lot of fun.  I'm so excited to see where the new school year takes them!

Well Child

Today was Wyatt's well child check up. As usual, Brian and I were constantly stopping him from playing with the Doctor's rolly chair. They've recently become computer savvy and keep all records online, along with computers in the exam rooms. So, we were battling keeping him away from the mouse and keyboard as well. Fun stuff.

Today Wyatt had his blood pressure checked for the very first time, which he was captivated by. His blood pressure was 101/76....but they didn't really give any indications of what it should be, so I don't know how that is.

Wyatt's Stats
Weight - 27.8 pounds - 83rd percentile.
Height - 32.5 inches, 77th percentile
Head - 19.25 cm, 86th percentile

The doctor originally told us that his height is in the 82nd percentile, but the nurse wrote down 77th. Either way we're extremely pleased that he's bouncing up from the 40's! I actually told Brian the other day that I've noticed that he seems to getting taller now. And I figured that the fact that he needs to wear toddler hats meant he has a big head!

The Doctor also looked at the bump on his foot and said it's looking wart-like so we need to start treating as such. Fun. Wyatt's saying far more words than they expected him to be saying as well, and his motor skills are up there as well, which is great to hear! He has to go back at 18 months, and the Doctor said that if I'm up for bringing both of them in at the same time for their check ups that he's game too, so it looks like we'll be coordinating those together. Fortunately, Brian comes to all the Baby check ups too, so I always have help.

He also checked the on call schedule and told me who will be in the hospital while we're there. He's not on call on the 25th, but he'll be there on the 27th so we'll see him then. Meanwhile, I'm going to wake Wyatt up from a very late nap and take him over my parents so that I can go get my final pregnancy massage!

Our Weekend

Wyatt and I have been on the go pretty much all weekend. On Friday morning we went to my parents' house to see my brother and his girlfriend who'd come to town from Charlotte. They haven't seen Wyatt since his birthday party in March, and Wyatt was a little leery at first about going up to them. But in a matter of five minutes Wyatt was all about playing with "Mawc" and trying on his cowboy boots (I'm not sure where this cowboy boot thing came from...maybe he needs to get out of Carolina).

Then we met Brian's parents, Allison, T, Colin, Piper and Grandma (Brian's Grandma, Wyatt's Great Grandma) at the waterpark where we hung out in a nice, cool cabana. Fortunately, Grammy and Grandpa wanted to take Wyatt to play so that I didn't have to chase him. I did take him into the wave pool while the waves were on and he was a little pro at jumping the waves. He had a blast in there. At one point Wyatt and I were looking for Brian, and Wyatt spotted him from far away and pointed and said "Daddy, Daddy, 'Ere's Daddy!" He was so excited to see him! By the time we left the park Wyatt was exhausted and fell asleep before we even pulled out of our parking spot. We went back to my parents' house where Wyatt and I both took naps and Wyatt was fed dinner and given a bath (I love that place)! When we got home we hung for a bit before Wyatt went to bed and I spent the night attempting to sleep (I really just can't get comfortable anymore).

Yesterday we went down to Moyock for a family barbecue with my Grandfather's family. Wyatt had fun playing on the deck and bribing people to give him potato chips (he would only let you hold him if you offered him a chip first). Brian came home pretty early last night so we went to Babies R Us for a few things (and met up with Steph and Dave) and then went out to dinner at the Olive Garden. I felt bad because we had Wyatt out pretty late, but he was such a good boy at dinner (relatively speaking...it was late). He was zonked out in the car and slept until 8:00 this morning!

Today we're going back to my parents to see my brothers (yeah, now they're both in town) before they leave and to have some lunch. There's four dogs over there right now (parents two plus my "nephews" Charlie and Sarge) so hopefully everyone behaves themselves (baby and dogs alike) and we can have a nice time!

One word I forgot plus a new one....
35. No
36. Marc - pronounced "Mawc"

Forgot 3!

I forgot three of Wyatt's words....

32. Fish
33. Turtles
34. Hot! (In all honesty though, hot applies to things that are hot in addition to things that he knows he's not supposed to touch).

I Know All Parents Think Their Kid is Smart, but...

The other day Brian and I decided to make a list of the words that Wyatt knows how to say. Our main motive behind it was just to figure our how well he communicates, but we also just think he's exceptionally smart and are impressed at his ability to speak. Yes, we are very proud parents. Anyway, here's a list of words that Wyatt can a) say and b) correctly identify when he says it or says at appropriate times.

1. Daddy
2. Mommy
3. Doggy
4. "Woof Woof"
5. Duck
6. "Quack Quack"
7. Car
8. Truck
9. Tree
10. Hi
11. Bye Bye
12. Banana
13. Please (we're working on saying it more)
14. In
15. The
17. Pool
18. Poop (he particularly likes to identify poop - piles in the yard, accidents a certain puppy might have had in the house, accidents he might have in his crib)
19. Ball
20. Bat
21. Basketball
22. Baseball
23. Choo Choo
24. Go
25. Sit
26. Geddoudadere (Get out of there)
27. Didi (My mom)
28. Pop Pop
29. Katie
30. Where
31. Potty (maybe all this interest in the potty will make him easy to potty train?)

So there are a few more words that he can say that I can't think of right now, but there are also signs that he identifies (like eat, drink, change diaper, etc.). He also recognizes a lot of words and reacts to them. If I ask if he wants a bath he comes and grabs my hand and takes me to the stairs. If I ask him if wants a drink he goes and waits by the fridge and does a dance until he gets it (and occasionally throws the "Pleeeeeeeease" in). I think that he's on the verge of saying a few more words because he's come close. He was very close to saying "Grammy" (Brian's Mom) yesterday, and he's trying to say his cousin Colin's name but it keeps coming out as "Cudy," and he's entertained by my brother who's in town for the weekend and since we'll be with him all day tomorrow he'll probably say "Marc" at some point. Anyway, sorry if I'm being a little proud, but every mother is right?
