Spring T-Ball

Hudson's final season of t-ball is almost over!  Unbelievable!  He's not officially moving up to a new division next year, but they just added a 6 year old t-ball/coach pitch group of teams that he will be playing with next fall.  CRAZY!

I absolutely can not believe that this is his fourth season of t-ball.  Wyatt's seasons in t-ball went by quickly, but Hudson's are flying by.  It seems like he was just a little fella playing his first season.  And now he's playing his fourth!

This picture is super blurry, but I had to blog this little celebration between Hudson and Daddy.  He and his team mate Christopher got LOTS of outs together that inning!

This kid LOVES baseball.  So much!

Hudson hasn't gotten the game ball yet this season.  Let's just say that his father has higher expectations for him to achieve game ball status.  It honestly cracks me up because I can tell whether or not he's a contender immediately after he hits!

He loves to "pitch," just like his big brother did.  He likes to channel different pitchers with his motion.  Wyatt's was mostly a copy of Andy Pettitte's when he was in t-ball, but I think Hudson might be more influenced by watching his big brother pitch!

Great t-ball season, Huddoo!

Spring Sports Wrap-Up

Just a few "follow up pictures" to the rest of our spring sports recaps.  I'm pretty sure that baseball will probably go on forever, but rec season is done!

Hudson finished his spring soccer season - he had a lot of fun!
He played in a U6 League - which means that most of the kids were 6 years old!  He even played against a few kids in Reese's Kindergarten class - two years older than he is.
It was hard for his little legs to move as fast as the bigger kids, but he still hung in there.  He really likes playing soccer, and he begged to do it again!
Wyatt played U8, although we tried to move him up to U10.  He had some moments of frustration playing defense all season, but he was still happy that he was able to play.  Plus, he was able to help move the ball down the field to prevent the other teams from scoring. He has tryouts for a select team on Tuesday!
Reese and Hudson both had fun playing t-ball - as always!

Reesie and her BFF Emma!
It's nice to be down two games a week now.  Wyatt is still playing for his Select team and he also made All Stars, so he has at least another month of tournaments and practices and conditioning and pitching!  It sounds like a lot - but he always wants to play.  And the kid has massive amounts of energy to burn!

Hudson Plays Ball

Hudson is having so. much. fun. paying t-ball this year.

He really likes hitting (and being last batter so he can run all the bases)!

And he doesn't mind telling anyone who will listen that he can hit the ball to the outfield.
He also really likes to play pitcher and second base.   You can tell that he watches a lot of baseball on TV by observing his sweet pitching moves.

Last week he was able to stop the ball a few times and throw it to first....
and he and Jesse were VERY proud of themselves for getting a few outs together.  I would say that they were some of the happiest little four year olds ever.
He even got the game ball!

Hudson's Fall Ball Season

Hudson played tee ball at the Y over the summer, and then he went straight to rec league ball.

He had so. much. fun.
He was so excited to be able to play on a "real field."  Real dirt, real bases, real outs.
He even made an out!  He fielded the ball so well at second base and then tagged it.
It seems like just yesterday that Wyatt was that tiny playing ball !  So sweet!
Having a big brother who plays is definitely an advantage.  He knows where to make plays, and he knows how to hit the ball.
Another great advantage is that a few of his friends from tee ball have older brothers on Wyatt's team.  Brian called them his "Little Dodgers" and they would play baseball together during their big brothers' games!
They had so much fun playing together.

He was so proud to finally have his own game ball.  It means he's a real Dodger now!

A Little More Tee Ball

Hudson has had the best time playing tee ball at the Y this summer.  I love that it's first thing in the morning on Saturdays, so Brian could easily work coaching him into his schedule.  I know he didn't want to miss that experience with Hudson!
He is definitely in the running for one of the cutest little boys I've ever seen play tee ball.  He's obviously in a tie with this his big brother.  Sigh.  Little Wyatt.

He's got a pretty strong swing.  You can tell he spends LOTS of time watching his older siblings play.
It's almost time for the big kids to start their sports seasons again!  Reese is pretty determined to stick with tee ball, and Wyatt is going to play baseball and soccer again this fall.  He's super excited to be on the same soccer team as last spring!

I just looked at the date and realized it's August 11th!  In three weeks school will be starting AND I'll have a six year old girl, too!  Time.  Slow down a bit.  Seriously!

Now Batting, Hudson!

Hudson had to sit out from sports in the spring because there was just no way to fit his games into our schedule.  He was signed up for soccer, but they moved it from Monday nights to Saturday mornings, and that didn't work with our already overlapping schedule for the Talls.

When we saw that the Y had a summer tee ball league for three year olds, we signed this boy right up!
His first game was June 14 - the same weekend as Wyatt's first All Star tournament.  Fortunately there wasn't any conflict, so everyone got to see him play.
Can you tell that he gets in a lot of practice at home?
Little brother swings!  Someone asked Brian what he did to teach Hudson his swing.  The answer is that he just watches Wyatt.  A lot.

Wyatt said that Hudson shouldn't be standing like this, and ran over to adjust his stance on the bag.  He's been serving as Brian's "First Base Coach" ever since.

He had to end the game on a sad note.  He didn't get to touch the ball or get an out, so he was feeling a little sad.  Obviously.  Ha!
