Not So Much to do with Wyatt...

NBC announced the other day that the network will partner with DirectTV and bring Friday Night Lights back for a third season. It's probably the best show on television that isn't being watched by a lot of people. The first season of the show was PHENOMENAL. Brian and I actually watched the very first episode of the show while we were on the "Second leg" of our honeymoon in Orlando. When the cruise finished up I had a little cold, and while we were at the hotel he forced me to watch it, and I really liked it. It honestly felt like I was watching a show that legitimately presented the issues that people dealt with in a small, football obsessed Texas town. We recorded the next few episodes on our DVR and finally watched like 6 at one time (the things you can do before you have kids) and we were hooked. Anyway, the second season this year was still really good (Brian liked it less because there wasn't as much focus on football), but there was a little less "realism" this season. They're promising that next season will be better, but unless you have DirectTV it will be next January before it comes on. Anyway, it's just something that I'm really excited about and thought I would share.

Hopefully Not Sick Little Guy

Wyatt's had some drainage coming out of his eyes over the last few days. It started in his right eye, and I tried really hard to stay on top of washing his hands if he rubbed it, but now his left eye is starting to look the same. For some reason he also slept really restlessly last night, which is totally unlike him. The Nurse at the Pediatrician today got us a prescription for eye drops, but they will only work if it's viral not if it's a bacterial"thing." We're hoping this eye thing isn't the sign of a developing cold or anything. But the world is covered in pollen right now, so it could always just be allergies. We're going to hope he's just getting some allergies and not a cold! Either way, he has his one year well baby check up on Monday so we'll find out soon enough I suppose!

A Few More Antics

So over the last few days, Wyatt has been having a blast playing with his toys and keeping himself entertained in general. He's been playing his new drums (he can actually keep a pretty good beat), playing with his new Wonder Pets Flyboat, and finding new things to do to get into trouble.

When Wyatt got his Flyboat, which comes complete with Linny, Tuck and Ming Ming, he was actually a little starstruck. There is no other way to describe the way he just stared at the three Wonder Pets in awe. Wyatt LOVES the Wonder Pets. It's the only TV Show that actually captures his attention. We have the Wonder Pets CD in the car, and Brian and I both actually have the Wonder Pets song as our ring tone on our cell phones. How appropriate is "The phone, the phone is ringing..." as a ring tone? Wyatt even dances to the ring tones. But I digress. When he finally started playing with his toys he had fun, and I believe that they've been chucked across the room several times now. I'm not sure that they're sturdy enough to take the beating though. More importantly, the Flyboat's sail is detachable (pretty smart, because a kid could probably pull it off if it weren't), and Wyatt now uses the Flyboat "base" as a skateboard.

Last but not least, Wyatt now finds hanging out under the kitchen table to be a hoot. He pretty much spent all evening there. I saw his teeth go into the wood on one kitchen chair, at which point Brian joked that I should call an adoption agency because I gave our cat away to a good home because she was eating the kitchen table (it was brand new). However, that was not the only reason. She was sleeping in the crib, bothering the dog, and SOMEONE never cleaned the litter box. Anyway, we will not be giving Wyatt up for adoption. He won't hurt the wood and he just looks so cute playing under there.

Important Phone Call

Wyatt got a very important Happy Birthday call from his Aunt Allison on Sunday. Here he is taking the call (and eating some pizza).

This is the first time he's ever "listened" and not tried to immediately grab the phone.

Wyatt's Actual Birthday

The weather was pretty nasty for Wyatt's 1st birthday yesterday. Brian and I were hoping to be able to get him out of the house and take him to do something fun, but it was just so yucky that we ended up spending the day hanging out at the house playing with his new (and old) toys. I made him fresh cinnamon rolls and sausage for breakfast (he was pleased) and then we spent the rest of the day playing. Then for dinner he had pizza for the first time. He really seemed to enjoy it! I don't really want him to grow up eating junk though, so it won't be an all the time thing. Right now he loves to eat fruit, but he doesn't seem to like to eat most vegetables, so I'm trying to get him to eat them.

It's hard for Brian and I to believe that he's already a year old and there's so much that he can do now. At the same time it seems like we've known him so much longer than a year. Silly, I know. Anyway, here's a couple shots of the birthday boy!

Yeah, that's now how he's supposed to ride that. He really is into climbing now.

Thanks Aunt Allison and Uncle T!

Wyatt had a blast last night playing on the stool that his Aunt, Uncle and Cousin gave him for his birthday. We didn't know that he was a climber...until last night. Now he's climbing on everything, but he's having a ton of fun.

1st Birthday for the Little Guy

Yesterday (the day before his actual birthday) Wyatt had his first birthday party. Family and friends came over and we celebrated his party in baseball style. Hamburgers, hot dogs, peanuts and cracker jacks (which were a big hit) were served before our one year old started eating his cake! Harris Teeter actually has this cool program for VIC Card holders to get a free small cake for babies on their first birthday. You have to sign up for it early (like two months before the birthday), but it was a pretty cool deal. And we LOVED the way his big cake came out. Brian and I just wish we'd gotten a little :)! All in all, the Wyatt had fun playing with his cousins and his friend Tyler and he got a lot of fun new toys for he and Daddy to play with. He says thank you to every one that came!
