Holiday Lights!

In addition to the million other things we've done this weekend, we went to Holiday Lights at the Beach! We decided to get going early because we were worried about waiting in the car with two kids on a weekend, but there was virtually no wait! On the way to the boardwalk we passed light displays hanging from the street lights, and Wyatt would point to them and say what some of them were. Brian and I always take the IPOD or some CDs because to be honest, the CD they give you is crap. We are some Christmas Music loving fools in this house!

Reese started screaming as soon as we rolled onto the boardwalk, but fortunately stopped within two minutes. Wyatt liked the lights, but a highlight for him was seeing the horse drawn carriages going down the boardwalk, because he LOVES horsies! He kept pointing to everything that he knew and telling us what things were. He was so excited to see Santa and the reindeer flying off the pier! For the record this is what he said, "'Ook at the reindeer. Reindeer fly. Reindeer fly Santa." So different from last year when he was sitting in his rear facing car seat asleep!

Wyatt's Future Career(s)

Wyatt is obviously a very smart little boy...at least we think he is. He's quite a thinker....

Here's Wyatt thinking!
Everyday he surprises us with the stuff that he says. First, let me introduce you to "Monkey."
Here's Wyatt and Monkey watching Zaboomofoo
Wyatt and Monkey sleep together every night. This morning Brian went to get Wyatt and Monkey out of bed and while they were walking downstairs Wyatt told Brian, "Monkey play for Yankees." He then decided to add "Wy Wy play for Yankees." Let me say that Brian and I have never once said anything like that to him, so we have no idea where it came from! We've played baseball with him. In fact, when the weather was so nice a few days ago we played baseball outside for hours. But we've never said anything about playing for the Yankees! However, if Wyatt decides to play for the Yankees and he has a big pay day coming we will of course root him on in his career. And we will also expect tickets to games.....
Tonight Wyatt wasn't too anxious to go to sleep at bedtime. When he and Brian came down to get Monkey, Wyatt decided he wanted to stay downstairs and play the drums. He then decided to curl up on the couch and watch House with Daddy. He literally curled up on the couch with Brian and was completely into watching the show for about 15 minutes. I think it's a sign that he plans to become a Doctor. I don't know. Clearly, my one and a half year old is struggling with which career path to follow.
I'd love for him to be a Doctor...but going to the Big Leagues would be significantly cheaper....

Ornament of the (Yester)Day!

So yesterday I didn't have time to post an ornament. Why? Well, the answer is simple really. I have um, two kids. They like to do things like, eat, play with Momma and read books. Well, I don't really know if Reese likes to play with me or read books, but she's present when it's happening, so I like to think it makes her happy.
So the other reason that I didn't get to post was because of the ornament of the day. My mom invited me to an ornament exchange for the ladies in her neighborhood. It was a "Dirty Santa." You know the kind where you pick your present, show it off, people steal it from you and you may or may not end up with something that you like? Well, when it was my turn I picked a bag that had two snowmen ornaments in it. Alas, it was stolen. Then I picked another new bag with a seahorse in it. I loved the seahorse. But it was also stolen from me. So I bit back. I stole a different snowman ornament that I liked. And someone stole it from me. Fortunately, that was my last steal. Whatever I picked next belonged to me. And even though my Mom had picked out the seahorse, I stole it back. And it is mine. Only mine. Nope, you can't steal it from me!

And here she is. It's a little eclectic I know. It matched nothing on my tree. And it is uber girly. I mean, even I am not that girly. But I think the earrings just make it perfect. And that is why it is yesterday's ornament of the day!

The whole ornament exchange was pretty fun. I didn't really know anyone. My parents moved a few years ago, and even though I lived in the "new" house for three years I never had the occasion to get know anyone besides the immediate neighbors. A neighbors' daughter was also there with her son who is only 3 days younger than Reese. It was nice to be able to talk to someone about breast milk storage, teething and going back to work...all while having a nice cold drink :).

Ornament of the (Yester)Day!

Starring Mickey & Minnie! Can you tell we've been to Disney three times in the last two years? Brian and I got this one on our honeymoon. We didn't actually go to Disney World then either. For the first week of our honeymoon we went on our second cruise, this time to Grand Cayman, Cozumel, Costa Maya and Belize. Once we were off the ship we drove from Tampa to Orlando and went to Sea World and Discovery Cove. At Discovery Cove we swam with dolphins...it was awesome! Our hotel was right next to Downtown Disney, so we ended up hanging out there and shopping everyday after we went to the amusement park, and we bought a TON of stuff including the ornament!

Yesterday I was busy all day, with the Powersports Department's annual Christmas celebration after work and some Christmas shopping last night. I wish I had more to blog about the celebration, but the gist is, Wyatt got scared of Santa, Reese started crying, the food line was too long for me to go through with two kids (although someone did get food for me), and the building was a sweltering inferno. The decorations were beautiful, but the kids and I left early. Unfortunately I wasn't able to talk to long lost co-workers while I was there :(!

Good Morning!

Reese had a rough day yesterday. I may have had a little caffeine (caffeine didn't affect Wyatt at all...Reese was affected by it in the womb), and I think she's starting the teething process. JOY! In all seriousness, it was the roughest day since she came home. She woke up twice the night before (and she only wakes up once...since she was a newborn) and things just kind of snowballed from there. Brief naps, whiney if not being held, totally unlike my girl. These are from a few minutes of happiness while we were supervising Brian's assembly of the exterior Christmas lights. And this is where I practice for hours with Wyatt to get him to say "Dad, you've taught me everything I know about exterior illumination."

Ornament of the Day!

Ridiculous!

So as mentioned, we went to the horrendous, disgusting Wal Mart yesterday morning. We went to perfect, wonderful Target last night. We are some shopping fools, but 'tis the season!

My son has teetered over the edge of being ridiculous. Perhaps all of the shopping has gone to his head. Perhaps he's an attention seeker. Either way, he's just plain precocious.

I kid you not, at both check out lanes yesterday, this is what happened.....

I was carrying Reese in her Baby Bjorn thing and Wyatt was sitting in the cart. Brian was loading bags into the cart and I was waiting to pay. Reese and I were standing right next to Wyatt. Wyatt looks right at the cashier and reaches out his arm. While still looking at the cashier he says "Hey Baby Giiiiiiwl. Hey baby. Ook at the baaaaby! Give baby a kiss, Momma? Give Baby Sissy a kiss? Awwww Baby Giwl. Pieces, Pieces!"

He says all of these sweet, charming things to his baby sister while not looking at her once. He stares directly at the cashier and waits for her to tell him how cute he is. He then proceeds to repeat his clever little ploy for attention until we leave the store.

He might be a little full of himself.
