4th of July Fun

Once again, we spent the majority of the weekend hanging out at my parents' house (or really, in their pool). Brian did have off of work last year on the fourth, but we weren't so lucky this year.  He really spent the entire weekend at work (booooooo)!

Wyatt actually jumped off of the diving board several times this weekend with no life jacket on!  I was waiting in the water to catch him, and held his shorts while he swam to the side. He did such an awesome job!  We actually had to have a conversation with him about who is allowed to catch him - and if you ask him, he'll say Mommy, Pop Pop, and Daddy.

Our neighbors invited us all over for a 4th of July get together on Monday.  I made a pasta salad using tomatoes and cucumbers from Mimi and Baba's garden, and cake pops.

Here are the pops ready to be dipped into the chocolate
And here they are ready to go to the barbecue!  I bought this tin at Target and spray painted it with chalkboard paint. I actually made it for Wyatt's birthday party to put the favors in.  I used a Styrofoam block to stick the cake pops in (next time I'll cover the Styrofoam with something more pleasing to the eye - ha!).  These cake pops lasted about 2 seconds after they came out - the kids LOVED them and came and asked me for the recipe for their moms!
Wyatt enjoyed lounging in this float while his sister pulled him around.  He cracks me up.  Everyone had such a good time hanging out and swimming, and then around 6 we heard thunder.  We made the kids get out of the pool, but my little princess decided to go a few steps down while I was tending to her brother.  And after 2 months without an accident she had pooped in her swimsuit.  You can go ahead and figure out what happened next, but I was mortified!  Fortunately we got everything cleaned up and Lena was totally understanding and wonderful about it - but I thought I was going to die of embarrassment.  Needless to say, I think we'll be using swim diapers from now on!
